But if Cedric the Entertainer and Haley Joel Osment can’t captivate those people who are willing to invest in entertainment, who can? Well, I can tell, it’s probably not going to be teen shows; 13, another teen musical, was also taken off Broadway this weekend, a bad sign considering the holidays a just around the corner.
Haley Joel Osment, the teen actor and former child star, took his final bow at the ‘American Buffalo’ performance last night. The curtain will fall on 13 in January.
High School Musical 1-3, however, have all been successful films. So does this just mean people aren’t interested in live arts? Or is Vanessa Hudgens that much more attractive to teens than Haley Joel Osment?
The slideshow shows a few other modern musicals, but I can’t imagine many of these will be any more successful than 13 and the Haley Joel Osment flop. Either way, it’s an interesting study of modern pop culture and the live arts interests of youth today.
